FILMMAKING

Monstrous Femme Films was established by Hannah May Cumming in 2018 with the sex-positive neo-giallo short film FANATICO.

FANATICO which was made for $1000 when Hannah was 20 years old, and was celebrated for its small budget yet big vision. It took home several awards and was then released by ALTER in 2020, amassing over 100,000 views. Since then, we have also completed the ‘70s summer camp creature featurette, Camp Calypso, in March of 2020, and our largest project to date - the festival darling - prom night pro-choice body horror short film, Baby Fever. Under MFF, Hannah also directs and produces music videos.

Baby Fever made a splash in the festival scene - screening at various prestigious festivals such as Dances with Films, Screamfest, Filmquest, and more over the last 2 years and taking home countless awards. It was one of 8 films that received the coveted ‘Hubbie’ award, selected and presented by Joe Bob Briggs at the third annual World Drive In Festival in Las Vegas.

MFF is dedicated to producing progressive, political horror flicks, reclaiming and subverting traditional horror tropes related to femininity and gender roles, and creating complex and dynamic female characters within the horror genre and beyond.

INFAMOUS HORROR

Baby Fever is no stranger to the nostalgia-laced colorful palettes of MFF- I was instantly hooked by the film’s stunning coloring, lighting, and the opening’s very, very 70’S title sequence.”

“There’s a distinct beginning, middle, and ending. That’s impressive for a short film because most feel like a specific scene that could be the introduction to a full-length feature film. It’s structurally sound in that regard.”
